John James Audubon: Swift Birds of Passage

May 9 – August 23, 2015

John James Audubon: Swift Birds of Passage is organized by three institutions, the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Auburn University, the Taubman Museum of Art, and Oglethorpe University Museum of Art, and will present rare Audubon prints, primarily of birds, which are native to or migratory through the region.  This exhibition is made possible by generous loans from JCSM, including more than 30 double elephant folio Havell edition prints as well as works from the Taubman, loans from a private Brookhaven collection, and works from the OUMA permanent collection. Also featured are a selection of finely detailed avian bronzes by Lee H. Letts, an American artist of the Beaux-Arts tradition.
