Oglethorpe to celebrate NGWSD

ATLANTA – Oglethorpe University will celebrate this year's National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) on Sunday, Feb. 5, with several clinics and a basketball game. NGWSD is an annual celebration sponsored by the Women's Sports Foundation.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on February 5, Oglethorpe's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will host clinics in which student-athletes will teach participating athletes all about the basics of their sport. Participants can choose to stay in a specific clinic or can learn about all the different sports Oglethorpe has to offer. Sports include basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, golf, lacrosse and track & field.

Oglethorpe's celebration will continue with a women's basketball game against Millsaps at 1 p.m. in Dorough Field House. To register for the event, please click the link above.

The Women's Sports Foundation was established in 1974 to advance the lives of women and girls through sports and physical activity. Their mission is to enable all girls and women to reach their potential in sports and life. National Girls and Women in Sports Day began in 1987 as a special day in the United States capital to recognize women's sports. The day united premiere organizations and elite women athletes to bring national attention to the promise of girls and women in sports.
